Looking for budget stays in Coles Bay? This section is designed to save you time, money, and unnecessary stress. We've got insider tips to help you find affordable hostels and the cheapest places to stay in Coles Bay.
Coles Bay is the gateway to the stunning Freycinet National Park and the world-famous Wineglass Bay. Situated at the top of the Freycinet Peninsula on the east coast of Tasmania, this quaint seaside town offers a range of things to see and do from bushwalking, kayaking, boat tours, and food and wine tasting.
Hostels are not very prominent within the Coles Bay region, so book early to avoid disappointment, especially in the summer months. You can get to Coles Bay from any of the major Tasmanian city centres using the Redline Bus Services or by hiring a car, which is the easiest way to get around Tasmania. Shuttle buses do operate from Coles Bay into the National Park to the walking tracks if you do not have your own car. If you do have a car with you, national parks fees will be applicable upon entering the park. Amenities within the region are basic; you should visit grocery stores or banks early as the local businesses close early.
Not to be missed is the famous Wineglass Bay overlook, but do walk down onto the beach itself if there is time, as spectacular white sand and different wildlife are often found on the beach there. Completing the circuit going via Hazards Beach is also a beautiful walk, which allows you to see both sides of the peninsula. For those interested in overnight hiking, the Freycinet Peninsula Circuit walk is thirty kilometers and heads over the Hazard Mountains to Mount Freycinet for another spectacular view of the bay.
