• -Without a doubt, the most economical way, buses to Toledo leave from the Plaza Elíptica Interchange in Madrid. The company that operates the Madrid-Toledo route is ALSA, one of the most important passenger transport companies in Spain. We recommend purchasing tickets online as far in advance as possible to avoid waiting and uncomfortable schedules.
• Toledo's bus station is outside the historic center. It will take about 20 minutes to get from the station to the old part.
• You can also go by city bus or take a taxi. -Walking: If you walk from the bus station to Plaza Zocodover (main square of the historic center and where most of the free tours depart) it will take about 20 minutes. We recommend taking the escalators (Safont) that are located in the Miradero area. Otherwise you will have to climb a lot of stairs and slopes, and it will take longer to reach the historic center. -Toledo Municipal Bus: Very close to the bus station you will find an urban bus stop (Ronda del Granadal). You simply have to take lines 12, 61 or 62. Any of them will take you to the historic center of Toledo. You can buy the ticket for the city bus directly from the driver (approximate price: €2) -Taxi: Without a doubt the most comfortable option. There is a taxi rank at the bus station. The price of a taxi ride from the Toledo bus station to the historic center is approximately €5. -TRAIN: trains depart from the central Puerta de Atocha Station every hour. The Atocha Station is located in the heart of Madrid (very close to the Reina Sofía Museum). Like the bus, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance, especially in high season (April, May, June, September and October) when demand is very high. Once you arrive at the Toledo station, we recommend taking a city bus or a taxi since the train station is somewhat far from the historic center (20 minutes walking). Like the bus station, Toledo's train station is outside the historic center. -Walking: The Toledo train station is located approximately one and a half kilometers from the historic center. You can walk for about 20 minutes. Don't forget to take the escalators (Safont) located in the Miradero area, -City bus: very close to the Toledo train station you will find a municipal bus stop. Take line 5, 6 or 22. (approximate price: €2). Any of them will take you to Plaza Zocodover, the heart of the historic center of Toledo. -Taxi: If you take a taxi from the train station (there is a taxi rank at the train station) it will take less than 10 minutes to reach the historic center.
