Blekinge is located in the south of Sweden. It is the country’s 2nd smallest province. The region is made up of lakes, forests, and beautiful flowering meadows. Ambitious visitors can hike or bike across the province. Sweden has over 400 hiking/cycling trails that crisscross the country and numerous types of hostels that are situated along the way.
This is an area well-suited for those who love to be outdoors. Here you will find good hunting, fishing, cycling, rock climbing, canoeing and hiking. The wildlife in this province are plentiful and include bison, deer, moose and wild boar. There is a golf association in the province with 8 courses all within an hour of one another.
There are several towns in the area. Solvesborg with its beaches and golf is also known for its peaceful Hano Island on which no cars are allowed. Visitors to the island can climb the lighthouse, swim, fish and hike, then spend a quiet night in the island’s hostel.
The town of Olofstrom is known for its good hunting and fishing. There is a place to go rock climbing and lots of spots to swim and canoe.
The city of Karlshamn has a mini train, golf, an outdoor large chess game, ice skating, merchant yards, a Marine Museum, a Cultural Center and the Kreativum Science Center.
Karlskrona is the largest city in Blekinge County. It stretches over 30 islands. Here you can find a naval base and the headquarters for the Coast Guard. The Naval Port has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Drottningskars Kastell and the Blekinge Museum are other options to visit. There is a rope-making factory and the Kungsholf Fortress that are open for touring. You might also enjoy renting a boat for the day and going around the coast to see the red houses that are built all along the steep cliffs. Consider traveling by boat to the little Island of Utklippen where you can see a huge number of grey seals, watch some incredible sunsets, swim and snorkel.
Similarly, Ronnesby has beaches and the Brunnspark where visitors can enjoy the hiking trails, the small amusement park and its little places to eat where you can grab a cake and coffee or a kabob.
