This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Mission Beach.
Mission Beach is a small, quiet, but lovely town on the east coast of Australia in Queensland. It is easy reachable from Cairns (two hours' distance) or from Townsville (three hours' distance) by car or bus. Mission Beach is characterized by this amazing contrast of landscapes -- forest and coral reef (all in the same spot), and its beautiful fourteen kilometers of gold sand and nice beaches, and for being the closest point to access the Great Barrier Reef (only thirty-eight kilometers away).
Mission Beach is composed by four small villages -- South Mission Beach, Wongaling Beach, North Mission Beach, and Bingil Bay -- all worth a visit, with plenty activities to do. You can also visit Dunk Island (just under five kilometers' distance), an amazing place to spend a few days and enjoy its walking tracks. If you only have one day on this island, you can book a day tour from Mission Beach -- it's really worth it.
During your stay, if you like radical activities, we recommend a skydive tandem of fourteen thousand feet -- this is one of the best places to jump in Australia! It's definitely one of the best feelings you will ever have (and amazing views from the sky are also guaranteed).
There are not so many hostels in Mission Beach, so try to book your accommodation in advance to avoid disappointments. Mission Beach hostels have a good quality/price relation, and have the perfect atmosphere for you to have a relaxed stay.
