You can check out the beach of Sao Miguel dos Milagres, which can be reached by boat. The boat crossing is a good experience also, with mid-route stops for sightseeing. The beach is unspoiled, clean, and mostly lacking tourists. The water is warm, clear, and shallow enough to stand up in, boat, snorkel, and bathe.
If you want entertainment in Maceio, check out the Teatro Gustavo Leite. It is called the best theater in the state, with high levels of comfort inside. You can watch one of the many concerts, plays, or other shows in the theater, along with the local fairs that take place here as well. To get more in touch with nature, you should go the Municipal Park of Maceio. It is a park in the center of the city that is open every day, except on Monday. You are free to go in whenever you want. The park is a safe spot for families, as alcohol is not permitted inside.
One of the last locations to visit when in Maceio is the Center of Culture and Exposition, where you can immerse yourself in the diverse culture of the city. It is a large space with different activities held in it throughout the year. Just get back to your hostel before nightfall for safety, and you should be fine.
