Located on the beautiful Lake Okanagan and nestled among the mountains is the stunning town of Kelowna. Perhaps most famous for its skiing during the winter months at Big White Ski Resort, there is also much to offer around this region in the summer months.
The Okanagan region is renowned for its fresh produce, so make sure that you get on in and buy some amazing cherries or other fruits and vegetables that they have in the area if you are here in the summer. They also have some good wineries in the area where you can take tours if wine is more your thing.
For those that love to be in the outdoors, there is an abundances of lakes and water activities such as kayaking -- ask your hostel staff about where to hire kayaks. There is also some amazing hiking around the area as well. Your visit should also include a trip to the Myra Canyon as it is beautiful.
There are Kelowna hostels both in the downtown center, with some further out on the highway and one at Big White itself. As they are scattered around the city, it is best to do some research on how will get to your hostel after you arrive. If you don't have a car and are arriving by bus, some of the Kelowna hostels do a shuttle service from the bus station. The hostel staff in each of the respective hostels should also be able to give you a run down on how to get around Kelowna and where to find the nearest food supplies.
