Guilin is an amazing and charming city in the province of Guangxi, in the south area of China. It is probably considered one of the most interesting cities in China, and the crowds of tourists will prove it. Even if you don't appreciate big crowds, the beauty of the city and the surrounds are really worth a visit. Guilin has a good transport connection; the most popular and economical ways are by bus and train –- both stations are near the city center and have good connections to the city center. Taxis or public buses are also available (make sure you have the right directions to your hostel, as it sometimes can be hard to ask for information because of the language barrier).

The city of Guilin has stunning scenery, with its shops, restaurants, and cafes set alongside the beautiful and well known “Li River.” The atmosphere in this city is quite a rarity in China -- it's really clean, with a lot of trees and green places. During your stay, you should take a few days to visit its main attractions -- Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill, Folded Brocade Hill, 7 Stars Park; you can visit these places by yourself easily. The other biggest attractions are the “Two Rivers and Foor Lakes Tour” and the “Guilin to Yangshuo Trip” -- these tours can be easily booked in any travel agency or in your hostel. After a long day of walking around, you should visit the Zhengyang Lu area -- with its concentration of cafes, restaurants, and bars -- to relax a little bit.
