Looking for budget stays in Aarhus? This section is designed to save you time, money, and unnecessary stress. We've got insider tips to help you find affordable hostels and the cheapest places to stay in Aarhus.
Arhus is the second largest city in Denmark and is also a very important port city for its country. Home to approx. 240,000 Danes (over a million in the metropolitan area), the city is situated in central Denmark and is a common place for backpackers to go while traveling the Nordic countries.
The hostels in Arhus are of good quality. The prices vary, with dorm beds starting from about 25 euros and double / twin bed rooms from a bit higher. Arhus hostels are by far the most inexpensive option of lodging in the city. Remember to ask Arhus hostel staff for tips & tricks when planning your daily activities around the city.
Arhus is served by most forms of transport (buses, trains and so on), and there is an airport that serves the city, although it is about 40 kilometers away from the main city proper. There is also a ferry service that runs from Copenhagen to Arhus, check their website for schedules and details. The main city area is not that large, so walking around from your Arhus hostel is a great option too. There are free city bikes you can borrow (you just need 20 DKK, which you get back when returning the bike).
When you stay in an Arhus hostel, we recommend that you visit the Arhus Art Museum which is one of the largest museums in Denmark. There are also other museums and a very nice renovated Old Town area, which was actually moved to form a museum-village of sorts. Some nice parks and a church over 800 years old (Arhus Domkirke, or Arhus Cathedral) complete the selection. All in all, Arhus is a city teeming with culture and vibes of an old, historical Scandinavian city.
