This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Trou aux Biches.
Trou Aux Biches is a resort town in the north of Mauritius. Beautiful white beaches with palm trees lining the crystal clear sea are what attracts visitors to this seaside village.
While most accommodations consist of resorts, budget accommodations can be found too. Most of the town’s visitors are couples and families, but fellow solo travelers can be found in Trou Aux Biches’ hostels as well. Hostels in Trou Aux Biches are scarce like everywhere else in Mauritius, so it is best to check the hostel availability in advance.
Other than lying on the beach, tourists can practice several water sports such as windsurfing, parasailing, and diving. For the more relaxed traveler, there are banana boat as well as submarine rides available. The submarine rides provide a spectacular view of the underwater world surrounding Mauritius. All of these activities can be booked from several shops on the beach or possibly from the hostel. Dolphin watching tours and day tours to other places on the island, such as Chamarel, can also be booked from Trou Aux Biches.
There are restaurants and shops in the city, but they are few. Western and Middle Eastern fast food as well as local cuisine can be tasted by purchasing from the stalls on the beach. More shops and restaurants can be found in Grand Bay, a town 10 minutes away by bus. Blue Bay’s beach is not as impressive as Trou Aux Biches, but can be nice to spend a day due to its wider variety of restaurants, nightlife options, and cheap hypermarket. Blue Bay is therefore another possibility when looking to book a hostel and spend days on Trou Aux Biches’ beaches.
If you are in search of a beautiful village with scenery that most only know from postcards, then book a stay in one of the hostels in or near Trou Aux Biches!
