This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Albufeira.
Albufeira is an amazing city in the southern area of Portugal (Algarve), with amazing nightlife and weather that is very inviting for tourism all year. You have different ways to get there, by plane (from other countries -- the nearest airport is Faro), by bus or train (regular and cheap connections to Lisbon, the capital); if you are planning to visit the surroundings, it could be nice to rent a car and it's not that expensive if you book it online and in advance).
Albufeira -- and all of Algarve -- is well known for the amazing food (mostly fish and shellfish), amazing beaches during the day, and vibrant bars and discos at night. Albufeira is a very touristic area that can offer different experiences for every budget -- from small and cozy cafes to fancy and cosmopolitan restaurants. During your stay, you will also find a good variety of shops and small stores to buy souvenirs or refresh your closet back home (on a budget).
During the day we recommend you enjoy the sunny days, relaxing down on the quiet and idyllic beaches, with turquoise and warm water, or if you are more active why don't you enjoy a boat trip to see some dolphins or try some water activities? At night you can have a few drinks with your friends in the local bars and end the night in the amazing discos in the surroundings. No matter what activities you prefer, if you want to experience what Albufeira has to offer, don't expect to rest much!
There are a lot of offers for accommodation, but in busy seasons make sure that you book in advance. The hostels in Albufeira are nice places to meet other travelers as well as local people that will gladly help you on your next itineraries.
