We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Cluj-Napoca.
Cluj-Napoca is a very beautiful city with great flight connections to other European countries. Almost all the sights and the best clubs are in the center, so you probably will not need to take taxis or public transportation at all. Although the number of hostels in Cluj-Napoca has increased in the last few years, there are still not many hostels in the city. The majority of Cluj-Napoca hostels are located in the city center and they are literally a few meters away from each other. The only problem is that the train station and the airport are far from the hostels, but you can get some of the buses that go to the center. Be sure to know the exact address of your hostel.
Cluj-Napoca is an amazing place to visit -– it is a great mixture of old and new. Visit the great museums and do not miss the old buildings, which keep memorable moments of European history. Some of the main sights are the Baroque church, the Szeky Palace, and the Church of Saint Michael. You can also visit Alba Iulia, which is only an hour away by train.
Cultural life is very rich –- visual arts, performing arts, and nightlife here are among the best in the Balkans. Visit the Transylvania Philarmonic and the Hungarian Theatre and Opera if you like performing arts, or visit some of the galleries if you prefer sculptures and paintings. There are all kinds of nightclubs, as well. The city has also a strong football team, which is very popular.
