Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, is a small and lovely seaside town located approximately four hours south of Bangkok on the eastern coast. The town is famous for its delicious seafood restaurants, its picturesque beaches, and its mountaintop temples. It is easily accessible by road, bus, or train from other popular destinations such as Bangkok or Hua Hin.
The two most popular attractions at Prachuap is the Ao Manao Beach, located just south of the town in the middle of a Thai Air Force base, and the Reclining Buddha Temple located on the top of the hill to the northern end of the town. Ao Manao is a great place to spend a relaxing day on the beach indulging in delicious seafood and refreshing fruit shakes. Many tourists are nervous to visit this beach, as it is located on a military base, but this is the most relaxed, beautiful military base on the the planet and feels more like a resort than a base. Please note, however, that in order to enter the base you must be on a bicycle or a scooter, or in a car or a tuk tuk. The Friday and Saturday night markets located by the pier are a must-do for anyone wishing to experience cheap and delicious seafood.
