At Touch Da Nang Hostel, you will get your bed and warm shower, but that is pretty much all you can expect from this no-frills, budget place. Besides, people who have a problem with noise should avoid this place as its closeness to the airport and loud water pump disrupt your quiet rest every once in a while.

The Location

The hostel is located in what might seem like a quiet residential area in the north of Da Nang. However, this is also the transportation hub of the city, with the railway station in walking distance and the airport and bus station also in easy reach of the place. However, as the airport is so close and many flights take off right above the hostel, you will often feel as if you were in the middle of a war zone as it gets so loud. While the place is ideally located for transportation, this is not the case with the sights. The Marble Mountains are exactly on the opposite end of the city, the centre of Da Nang with the Dragon Bridge is about forty minutes and the beaches in the east are about six kilometres from here. The are some beaches in the north of the city as well which are closer to the hostel, but these are not so remarkable.

Rooms and Bathrooms

If you check out the hostel on any booking platform, it looks modern and stylish. Maybe that is what it looked like when it was new but at the moment, it is in a rather dilapidated state and it is almost impossible to recognise the rooms you see in the pictures. The dorms are supposed to have capsule beds, but some of the walls are missing, which means you are practically in the same bed with your neighbour and there are no curtains at the end of the beds either. Therefore, if somebody else switches on their bedside lamp, it will feel as if the main light has been switched on. The rooms are small, dirty, and old. On the positive side, though, you will get a locker under your bed -- though you have to bring your own padlock -- and there are some clothes hangers in your room.

There are only two bathrooms for the whole hostel, which is way too few so expect queues in the morning. There is also no toilet paper or hand-wash soap inside, which is quite shocking for the Vietnamese standard. Moreover, the water pump is right above the four-bed dorm and it is extremely noisy and annoying.

Common Spaces

This hostel is definitely not ideal for socialising, as the only common area you will find is in front of the reception and it consists of a set of tables and chairs and a couch. In the morning, you can order breakfast here for an extra fee. Behind the reception, there is a fridge and you can ask the receptionist to store your food here for you, but you do not have access to the kitchen itself.

Summary

Touch Da Nang Hostel is really not that great, especially in comparison with all the other hostels you can find in the city. Its location is not central at all, which means you will have a hard time getting to tourist attractions, and the general condition of the place is definitely below the standard you could reasonably expect.
